The Nottingham Universities Mavericks are one of the founding members of the British Universities Ice Hockey Association, and are one of the largest and most successful university Ice Hockey clubs in Britain.

 

The club also competes in the largest Ice Hockey Varsity event outside of North America, between students from the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University, which attracts a sell-out crowd annually of 10,000 fans at Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena.
