A New Era with the Addition of a Women's Team?

The Nottingham Mavericks Ice Hockey Club is entering an exciting new phase with plans to establish a women’s team for the newly launched Women's League under the British Universities Ice Hockey Association (BUIHA). This development underscores the club's commitment to inclusivity and equality, providing a dedicated platform for female athletes to compete at a high level.

While the Mavericks have always been inclusive, with female players participating in mixed-gender teams, the creation of a separate women's team would offer greater representation and development opportunities for female athletes. Importantly, women will still be encouraged to join mixed-gender teams, maintaining the club's unique, collaborative spirit.

The women in the Nottingham Mavericks have already proven their talent with strong performances in national tournaments, earning recognition and success. With this track record, there's great hope that they will excel in the new league format as well, aiming to bring home even more trophies and continue their winning tradition for the club.

As the Nottingham Mavericks plan to embark on this exciting new chapter with a dedicated women’s team, there is a strong sense of optimism and anticipation. With a history of success and a commitment to inclusivity, the club is poised to achieve great things in the new league. The Mavericks are ready to support their athletes in reaching new heights and continuing their legacy of excellence, both on and off the ice.
