Mavericks Invited to IceFest 2021

Updated: Aug 16, 2021

The Nottingham Mavericks are excited to announce that the club has been invited to compete at IceFest 2021.

Two teams from the Mavericks will battle it out in the quest to lift the IceFest trophy alongside teams from the Nottingham Cyclones, Nottingham Outlaws and Nottingham Knights at Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena on August 15th 2021.

This recreational tournament, hosted by the Nottingham Cyclones, has been created to provide players of all abilities the chance to compete together in a fair and evenly matched environment.

Games will run for 18 minutes with teams of ten players, changing lines on the buzzer to ensure fair matchups and ice time for everyone. Any penalties incurred during games will result in an immediate penalty shot, instead of a player being sent to the penalty box. Finally there will also be no stoppages of play and the puck will remain live at all times. These quirky rules will make the games fun and fast for both the players and spectators. This free to attend event will start at 12PM and is planned to run until late. Spectators are welcome to attend but in order to be given entry, you must show evidence of being fully vaccinated or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours of attending. There will also be a charity raffle taking place throughout the day in support of Mind UK, with prizes ranging from Nottingham Panthers memorabilia to tattoo vouchers and gift cards.

So come an support your favourite University Ice Hockey Club in our efforts to secure glory at IceFest 2021.
